I have a lot of magazines that I want to convert to e-books and sell it online. How legal is this?

I have a large collection of books and magazines that was bought over many years, and I would like to share this information by converting it to e-books and selling it online. Some date back to the 1960’s.
I know there is legal implications, so I would like to do it the right way.

unless your willing to contact the owners of the copy write in each and every case(and most wont let you anyway) its illegal.
you must obtain written permission and cut them in on the action.

or just sell on the sly….
but i wouldn’t think there would be a paid market.
people already upload most things for free, as a service to the community on torrent sites.
pirate bay, isohunt, torrent reactor……….

I really like to read books but for some reason am not feeling motivated?

When I turn on the computer and sit in front hours pass by, once time is wasted later I regret that I wanted to do other things that I actually like more to do e.g read my favorite books on Engineering. I am having trouble with motivation. What should I do to get motivated? I don’t know why this is happening with me.

We are what we eat and drink. If we consume always pure and good quality food items and drinks, it will help to generate good thoughts, ideas and feelings. Our intake of solid or liquid should be healthy, nourishing and delicious.

On the contrary, if we take impure, unhealthy, bad or poor quality food along with bad drinks, besides weed habits, it may destabilize our mind. Moreover we are easily susceptible to negative influences than positive influences. So we should never have friends who are capable of spoiling our mood. Then our mind remains unsettled. Afterwards, it is difficult to bring back the mind in proper shape. It takes long time. Impure mind will only generate bad, poor, weak or evil thoughts, ideas or feelings.

I’ve been trying to do research on ways to treat and prevent BV and I keep coming across e-books for remedies to cure BV naturally within 3 days. I haven’t found any useful reviews because every site that I’ve been directed to just seems interested in pushing readers to buy the book. Is there anyone who knows a little more information on these e-books? I would like to read a REAL review.

I completely understand your question. My answer is don’t waste money on the e-books because those people are only trying to get your money, honey. I have been suffering from Bacterial Vaginosis for over a year. I have scoured the internet searching for a solution to my problem. My GYNO was no help when she told me that it was stress related. How can someone not be stressed out when they have discharge and smell like nasty fish. Anyway, I have tried everything from Acidiphilous pills, to douching with hydrogen peroxide, to using unscented Dove soap. Nothing worked at all. I ran across reviews on Amazon for Fem-dophilus. These women were raving about this product. It’s a pill forumulated with only the good bacteria for vaginal health. I have been taking them vaginally, and they are great. The bottle says approved by the FDA to take orally, but it wasn’t working as well when I was only taking them orally. E-Reader Vs Real Books…Whats Your Oppinion?

Personally I Dont agree with the E-readers. I Love buying new books, i love filling up my book shelves, the smell of books. I Love when my books get that OLD look to them cause they been read so much. Books are just great all together i love trying to find old books as well. But with this new age they came out with a electronic book. Pretty soon they wont publish books anymore cause people can read any thing they want on there Nook or Kindle Etc.

Whats some other oppinions on the E-Readers? Do you like them, dont like them?

Hi, Geronimo, people that get an eReader generally read 3-4 times more books than before they got one thus that speaks for the devices (worth the money and useful.) There’s advantages of eReaders - for example, you can put MP3’s on them and listen while you read and they can hold thousands of books in digital format.
When choosing an eReader, you need to consider not only the physical properties of the device, but also compare eBook stores behind it. Sony has never been a contender for any comparison by anyone as they only have like 20 books in their Ebook store and their devices are way overpriced for what they offer. Borders is behind Kobo/Cruz devices in US and as you might of heard, Borders is on a brink of bankruptcy. Kindle and Nook are the only devices to be considered as their eBook stores have over a million of free public ebooks as well as over a million of ebooks that you need to pay for available.
Several features of Nook’s environment are similar to regular books (unlike Kindle’s) such as:
- Nook allows to lend books for two weeks to friends or to your other devices that run B&N app (PC, MAC, Android phones, Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad, etc.)
- When you walk in with the Nook to B&N store you’re allowed to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi.
- Nook can be used for library ebooks and for renting text-ebooks
You should understand the limitations of e-Ink eReaders - they are limited to be black & white for now, they "blink" at each ebook’s page turn, they’re not too good for web browsing, they need external light source for reading when dark, and they cannot handle videos.
If all you read is black & white novels then the better one would be e-Ink Nook. If you read electronic magazines or college text books with a lot of color graphs and charts or children’s’ books with a lot of pictures then the better would be Nook Color from Barnes & Noble. Nook Color is a hybrid Android eReader/tablet and has USB port (unlike iPad). It has a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight and for reducing eye strain than iPad’s. The screen is one of the best and sharpest on the market and it’s viewable at wide angles.
Nook Color has several apps that already come with the device (Pandora Internet radio, QuickOffice, etc.) Also, Barnes & Noble recently released Nook SDK and Nook Developer platform that will allow most of the existing 100,000 Android apps be ported to it. Also, you can use the Social Settings screen to link your NOOK Color to your Facebook account and your Twitter account. You can also import all your contacts from your Google Gmail account. Once you have linked to Facebook and Twitter and set up email contacts, you can lend and borrow books, recommend books, and share favorite quotes with your friends.

How do you find books for online classes?

I’m taking two online classes at two different community colleges this summer. My class starts in a week and I have no clue what books I need … the professors’ e-mails are nowhere so I can’t ask them. The school’s websites don’t say anything about the books I need!
I’m so confused!

It’s strange that you haven’t received contact information with your professors. I’ve taken three online classes last summer, and for each one, this information was given far in advance. All I had to do was ask them, since texts for certain classes really depend on the teacher’s preference…

Since that information isn’t available to you, I would peruse the school’s web site, particularly their courses, and MAKE SURE that prerequisite texts are not mentioned. Call the school’s help line, or make contact with the school itself, not necessarily the professor. Just don’t buy a random textbook.

If you have no luck, rest assured that the professors will eventually contact you, and you could explain your predicament. Online courses span a considerable length of time, and if you don’t have any early homework for these classes, you should be alright with the delay it takes to get your textbooks.

Is it possible to learn ancient greek language from only books?

I really liked ‘The Secret History’ by Donna Tartt which was about a group learning classics in university. While reading I became interested in the ancient greek language (not the modern version), and I want to learn it, but I only got some e-books without audio companions. I don’t know any teacher around my town. I was told that it is a rather difficult language, but is it possible to learn the basics from only books? Thanks for your answers.

You can learn the basic grammar and vocabulary from a book. You might even learn how to conjugate verbs and write sentences in ancient Greek. But take it from someone who’s language is a derivative of ancient greek (aka modern greek :p): it is NOT an easy language to learn and you’re definitely going to need a teacher to explain to you how spelling works and answer all your questions.
