isn’t e-book vanity publishing?
Ebooks aren’t necessarily vanity publishing, any more than paper books. If you go to Amazon or Barnes and Noble and look at their bestselling ebooks, you’ll have heard of at least some of the authors.
As an author, I don’t care how people read my words, as long as they do read them, and pay me for them if they think they’re worth paying for.

If you get a book published by a proper publisher then they can make your book available to Kindle and such.

It depends on what kind of ebook it is. If you got an ebook through torrent then that’s definitely illegal. But if you buy it through kindle, ipad, etc. then it’s fine.
As for your question, I myself would rather have the e-book. Because I like going back to my fave parts of a book and it’s a lot easier with ebook because I just have to type it up.
Having a book is also fine because it adds to your collection (if you like collecting books).

A book printed on paper is still the most popular forum. As a writer, the main thing is to get your wok read, so I’d chose paper over a device any day.

Proper publisher. I’d just rather have a real book that when it’s published I can run my hands over the pages and cover and feel proud of.

Definetely a proper publisher. I’m against that whole e-book revolution. They’re taking away the old fashioned book! I can’t believe Borders is closing down because of e-books. Before you know it, it’ll be Barnes and Nobles too!!

There are some commercial ebook publishers. And a lot of vanity presses. Same for paper publishers.
I’d rather have my book published by a proper publisher than a vanity press, but that isn’t the same as choosing paper or ebook.

I love how you called it a proper publisher.
I hate e-books with a passion. Proper publisher all the way.

Definitely by a proper publisher.

No. Ebook does not automatically equal vanity publishing or self-publishing. Anyone can put their books in electronic format. Look at some recently published books by the big publishers, and you’ll see that there’s also an ebook version for those who want the ebook. Ebooks is just one more format of publishing. So, you can have a commercial publisher who puts out the physical book and the ebook version of your book - that’s becoming the standard with commercial publishing.
I’d rather have an ebook published by a commercial publisher than self-publishing it.
