I read romance/sci-fi/urban fantasy/etc. but I can never find any free e-books that are interesting to me that I can also download.

Google has a great ebook service, and they are free. Also , do a search on the Gutenberg project.
Here’s the issue: books usually only become "free" after they have been published for 30 years, because at that time they usually become part of the public domain, depending on copywrights– so most of what you find will be dated. There are some fantastic titles in Science Fiction, though- but you have to be able to comb through what’s out there.

Like a website or something? But one that has a wide variety of books to download.

There are a few LEGAL sites you can get free ebooks, or read books online.

1. For the "classics", and other older books, there are quite a few sites you can find them. Search for "public domain" ebooks. Some of the titles may surprise you, but they are all older books.

2. Some publishers, well one in particular that I can remember, offer some of their books online for free. (Link below) Often it will be the first book in a series, or part of a collection. It is a good free
way to explore new authors though.
*side note. I’ve also seen a few books at the library that come with a cd containing a number of books from that publisher in .txt format (not sure if it’s the same one as the site. It was awhile ago, before ebooks became popular)

3. Amazon.com. They have a lot of ebooks you can purchase. The "free" part comes from gift cards. There are a number of sites which offer free gift cards for Amazon for your time/interest. They are usually a) Survey’s b) PTC paid to click c) "shop and earn, and d) search engine.
(if you want more information about those, you can send me a message)

4. If you don’t care about the popular titles, famous authors, or perfect editing, there are sites that get amateur writers to join and submit their work. There are a lot of people writing and not getting published, so you can find some really good stories from those sites. (And some bad…)
I can’t remember any specific sites, but they shouldn’t be hard to find.

I hope I’ve helped.

Yes, there are some sites that allow you to get free books on the public domain. However, you need to pay for books with copyright on both devices.

Between the two, I’ll say the Amazon Kindle, and it now goes international.

I love my Kindle 2 very much. The Amazon Kindle is better Sony E Reader because it has free wireless and text-to-speech function. There are more ebooks you can find available for the Kindle, and books on the Kindle are quite a lot cheaper too. There are some good comparison between them here:

http://www.speedreaderxreview.com/kindle-2-0-vs-sony-reader-prs-700bc-comparison

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR3ULAFVHBGYVQP%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

And in case you don’t know, Amazon has recently put a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it adds in international wireless access and native PDF support… So take the chance if you want it.

Hope it helps :)

Well…hi!…I can buy them but my mother is not letting me buy them….she says that i have already saw the movies and i know them by heart….behind it is because it is about vampires….she says it demons….so i do not want to vex and piss her off over that….so i need to read the four books of the twilight saga!!

Thanks for you help!!!! hey smart mouths shut up!!

Several web sites offer online full-texts of books that are out of copyright, e.g. www.gutenberg.org.
However, aside from the copyright owner, which is almost always the author or their publisher, ANYONE who posts, distributes, or transmits the text of these books online is violating both the U.S. and the International Copyright laws, infringing on Intellectual Property, and can be fined and jailed for it. (In general, anything first published within the last 52 years in the U.S. will still be in copyright. When the law was changed, it became copyright duration matched the rest of the work, i.e. the author’s/copyright owner’s lifetime plus 50 years.)
Writers make a living by creating their work. To read or use it without paying for it, is STEALING, pure and simple.
If the work is valuable enough to read, it must be paid for.

Im familiar with e-snip and 4shared but i want any other website from where i could get free e-books becuz sometimes these two websites do not have those books i want..

For older books, published before 1923, start with:

http://www.gutenberg.org
http://manybooks.net
http://www.fullbooks.com
http://www.webliterature.net
http://www.feedbooks.com
http://www.munseys.com

Then do a search for "free e-books" and you will find many more links.

Newer books are under copyright protection, so you will have a much harder time finding free e-book versions. The exception is to visit the website of your local library for legal, newer downloads.

Does Anyone know of a website that you could download free e books that is safe and preferably tested
Some of the books that I would like to have on there is Harry Potter Books and Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater My Sister would like to have these all Good answers appreciated Please included The URL if possible thank you.

http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Free_eBooks has lists of dozens of free ebook sites, both downloadable and read-online ebooks.

Some of the largest are:
http://www.munseys.com
http://www.feedbooks.com
http://www.manybooks.net

Baen Books has a free library of science fiction ebooks at http://www.baen.com/library/

http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/ has free comics in CBR or CBZ format.

Sci-fi author & copyfight activist Cory Doctorow releases all of his books as free ebooks at http://craphound.com/

http://www.teleread.org/free-ebooks/ is Teleread’s list of free ebook resources.

http://www.wowio.com has a large selection of ebooks that are free to read online, and cost to download as PDFs.

http://www.smashwords.com is a self-published ebook store, but it has a lot of free and "pay what you like" books.

The Harry Potter books aren’t legally available as ebooks because the author doesn’t like ebooks. I don’t know if Shiver is available.
