Cheap eBook Store ?

I’m taking two online classes at two different community colleges this summer. My class starts in a week and I have no clue what books I need … the professors’ e-mails are nowhere so I can’t ask them. The school’s websites don’t say anything about the books I need!

It’s strange that you haven’t received contact information with your professors. I’ve taken three online classes last summer, and for each one, this information was given far in advance. All I had to do was ask them, since texts for certain classes really depend on the teacher’s preference…

Since that information isn’t available to you, I would peruse the school’s web site, particularly their courses, and MAKE SURE that prerequisite texts are not mentioned. Call the school’s help line, or make contact with the school itself, not necessarily the professor. Just don’t buy a random textbook.

If you have no luck, rest assured that the professors will eventually contact you, and you could explain your predicament. Online courses span a considerable length of time, and if you don’t have any early homework for these classes, you should be alright with the delay it takes to get your textbooks.

I really liked ‘The Secret History’ by Donna Tartt which was about a group learning classics in university. While reading I became interested in the ancient greek language (not the modern version), and I want to learn it, but I only got some e-books without audio companions. I don’t know any teacher around my town. I was told that it is a rather difficult language, but is it possible to learn the basics from only books? Thanks for your answers.

You can learn the basic grammar and vocabulary from a book. You might even learn how to conjugate verbs and write sentences in ancient Greek. But take it from someone who’s language is a derivative of ancient greek (aka modern greek :p): it is NOT an easy language to learn and you’re definitely going to need a teacher to explain to you how spelling works and answer all your questions.

I would just like to know where I could download e-books for free. What would be the best sites to download the latest books without charge? A list of sites would be greatly appreciated.

My brother is retired and has collected rare books for years. He has rare sets of books, etc. Is E-Bay the best way to go. He doesn’t know much about the internet so needs some advice.

the first thing you need to do is see how much they are worth. then you could sell them on e-bay, but for how much they are worth. if not e-bay, you could always have a yard sale and sell it there. but if you do put them on e-bay, you should leave the date on the book and say how much its worth. but do not sell the book for under what it is worth, then other people will buy them and then they will sell them for more getting them more money. you said he doesn’t know much about the Internet? here is what you do: 1 take a photo of the books ( you can sell them all together or apart) 2 go on www.e-bay.com and if you don’t have a account make one. 3 go to sell or it should say something like that. 4 upload the photo. 5 then all you have to do is put down the price and like i said how much the book is worth and the date on the book. then you just wait till someone sees it. i hope this helps
