Some books on amazon that are available for kindle are free, but are they real? Or are they scams? And has anyone ever downloaded one of these?

I often get those free ebooks on Amazon to read on my Kindle device, when I have some time. They are free because they are in the public domain, so everyone have the right to publish it. Since the cost of ebooks are very low, so Amazon can just provide them for free.

You can get the full list of free ebooks here:

And in case you’re considering to get the Kindle device, here the review I read when I decided to get my device:

I have stories that I have saved in Word on my PC that I would like to be able to take with me for mobile reading. Is this an option for any of the new E book readers out there? I’d like to be certain before I think of buying one.

Both Kindle and Sony Reader can read Word document. See the second paragraph in this thorough review of an actual user. It mentioned reading Word document on the Kindle:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR6L0G6ZY33S96%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=more_info-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

I suggest you to choose the Amazon Kindle. It is selling better than the Sony Reader, and the Kindle is now having the biggest share in the ebook reader market. It has free internet access and reading aloud functions, which is not available on the Sony Reader.

Hope this helps.

i have authored two ebooks, one instructional and another near completion about a section of my life in the army. now i want to market them, would also consider printing both

Vanity publishing, by definition, involves bringing together a writer eager to have his work in print and a company eager to charge that writer for printing the copies. Vanity publishers don’t care if the book is good or bad. Vanity publishers will print anything the writer will pay them to print. Quality and sales potential of the work are not priorities; in fact, they aren’t considered at all.

My advice is work hard, learn your craft, and network with other writers to share knowledge and information. And remember, if an offer to publish your previously rejected novel and thus become a "real author" by handing over a check sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is.

My wife and me have been looking up information concerning different e-readers on the market for both myself and her. We are both really impressed with what the Amazon Kindle can bring to the table more then other readers. I was wondering though, if i purchase a book through the Kindle store on Amazon and have my wife’s Kindle and my Kindle registered to me, can she read the book as well or will she have to purchase the book so she can read it?

As long as the kindles are registered to both accounts you can share books with up to 5 devices usually. There are some rare instances where the publisher only allows one device to be connected, but my husband and I haven’t run into that yet in any of the books we’ve wanted to read over the last 6 months. We share an account and all our books with no problem. And note, that’s 5 devices, not 5 downloads. You can download to any given device as many times as you want, but only have the book on 5 different devices simultaneously (ie iPhone, PC, Kindles). The only problem is you can’t sync to the furthest page read if you’re both reading the same book since it will take whoever is furthest (including finishing the book)

i wanted to sell the book, but i do have back-end products in it.

There are no benefits. You may be able to sell stories on the back of the free e-books but it is negligable.

I want to purchase an ebook reader. However, I have a collection of ebooks in Microsoft reader, PDF, adobe digital editions, mobipocket reader, and html formats. Is there an ebook reader that will read all of these formats or if I buy one will I then have to buy ebooks in that specific format, such as kindle only?

Yes, there are a number of ebook readers that support those formats. BeBook and EZ Readers both support over 20 formats. All ebook readers, even Kindle, support PDF, and it also supports HTML and MOBI.

Most ebook readers support ADE.

My Dad can only read Large Print books due to gradually losing his sight. I want to get him an e-book reader - but what ones allow you to increase the size of the text by several points, (and of the ones that do : what is simplest to use and takes the most formats ? )

I’ll say the Amazon Kindle, it will be a great gift for your father. It allows you to change fonts and has magnifier if you want the text even larger. There is also a text-to-speech function, so we can just listen to the book without using our eyes.

There are some good reviews here about it, the first one is written by a person who has aging eyes as well:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR2AF5MLAZJHZ52%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

Finally, Amazon has just put a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it is now selling $100 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle, and it adds in international wireless access and native PDF support… So take the chance if you want it.

Hope it helps :)

im looking into buying an e-reader, but i dont know which one to get. i would perfer one that is cheap($200-$250), works good and has a backlight in it.
thnx
if i buy the sony e-readers can i still get e-books from barnes and nobles???

The e-book readers do not have backlight, and it is actually better for our eyes. Just imagine if we read deep in all the text on computer screen, it is no good to our eyes if we read too long. See this article and you’ll know more:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Ftagging%2Ftag%2Fkindle%2Fforum%3Fie%3DUTF8%26cdForum%3DFx1D7SY3BVSESG%26ref_%3Dcm%255Fcd%255Fef%255Ftft%255Ftp%26cdThread%3DTx164P1YL79AI6U&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

I own the Kindle 2, so let me give you some of my opinions about it. I’ve to say I love it! I think I’ve read over 30 books with my Kindle, no glitches so far!

One of the reasons I love my Kindle is that it has helped me improve a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I have the Kindle, waiting time like when I’m waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like that is simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me, and all my favorite books are inside it. Another thing I like the most is the text-to-speech function, which means I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I’ve myself busy on some boring things, say when I’m on the step machine or doing some housework…

I like reading and at the beginning I did miss a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work very well, it is really like reading books… Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don’t feel tired… And I now prefer to manage all books inside the Kindle rather than my never big enough bookshelf… And like to do bookmarking, annotation, dictionary lookup without any additional thing but a Kindle.

There are quite a lot of free books (tips: if you’re outside the U.S. all the books will have US$2 added, but when you choose to download to computer when you check out, the $2 will be waived, and you can copy the books to your Kindle through USB cable), and many Kindle books, magazines and newspapers are cheaper than the actual paper version. I remember I read these reviews about the benefits of the Kindle when I decided to buy it:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR2DUM7S4XW06QN%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ASIN%3DB00154JDAI%26nodeID%3D%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Fpr%255Fcmt&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

http://www.speedreaderxreview.com/is-kindle-2-worth-the-price

Finally, if your budget is really tight, you can try to look into the offer list of the Kindle 2 to see if refurbished edition is available. Two of my friends got it, and it just looks and works like the new Kindle that I’ve got:

Hope it helps :)

Such as amazon and barnes and noble.

I’m sorry, but it is not. For ebook stores of Sony, Amazon, and Barnes and Nobles, they all have DRM so they are not readable among each other. They can only be read on specific devices.

Among these three ebook readers, I’ll suggest the Kindle, because it has free wireless and text-to-speech function. Amazon also provide the best ebook content for the Kindle too. There are some good comparison between them here:

Similar to popular video uploading sites like youtube or veoh.
One such example of e-book uploading site is esnips.com.
Could any one of you suggest me some more?
Thanks in advance.
